IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ATTENDEES
Did you manage to get a ticket for GOTO40? Then we look forward to welcoming you to ‘t Zonnehuis on 9 December, together with hundreds of other enthusiastic MSX enthusiasts. Below, we give you information about the event and bring to your attention some important topics.
New location
Let’s start with the most important thing, the location. In case you missed it, the event will not take place at H20 in Purmerend. Due to circumstances, we have had to move the event. This was not easy, but we have found a beautiful place where we can have a wonderful day together. The new location is ’t Zonnehuis, Zonneplein 30 in Amsterdam.
Accessibility
‘t Zonnehuis is located in Amsterdam-Noord and is easily accessible by car. Parking in the area is free. We recommend parking your car along Meteorenweg. By public transport from Amsterdam CS train station, there are two good options. The first is metro 52 towards Noord. Get off at the Noorderpark stop and continue from there with bus line 35 towards Molenwijk. Stop Maanstraat is then just 3 walking minutes from the location. The second option is across the water by ferry. Ferry 906 will take you to the NDSM wharf. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk.
Mandatory cloakroom
In the basement of ‘t Zonnehuis is the cloakroom. This is manned and guarded throughout the day. As the new venue is smaller than the old one, it’s going to be crowded. Very crowded. We have therefore decided to make the cloakroom mandatory. This means that coats will not be allowed in the main hall. Bags are allowed, but keep it small. For a fee of 1 euro per item (cash only and there is no change!), your belongings will be well looked after throughout the day. Have you bought something you want to keep in your bag? Or do you want your coat because you’re going out for a bit to get some fresh air? The cloakroom is there for you, you can always access your items.
Main hall entrance
From 10:00 am, the doors are open and you are welcome. Access control will take place at the main hall entrance doors. Everyone will receive a wristband after scanning their ticket. Please note: coats will also be checked at the entrance. These must first be handed in at the cloakroom.
Programme
MSX GOTO40 will be a unique experience. The main hall is filled with booths with many special things to see. There is a historical exhibition, there are special MSX machines and, above all, lots of hardware and software. Make your move, there is plenty to see and buy. Besides this exhibition part, MSX GOTO40 is also an event with an extensive stage programme. We will start at 11:00 and various presentations and performances will take place until a little after 18:00. Be sure to take a look at this page for the full programme. Around 18:15 we will say goodbye to the day guests and the conversion of the main hall will take place for the buffet. This buffet starts at 19:00 and will last until around 21:00.
Meet & Greet
In particular, we welcome our Japanese guests on this day. We think many of you would enjoy shaking their hand in person, taking a photo with them or getting an autograph. And this is possible! Kazuhiko Nishi, Tadahiro Nitta and TECHNOuchi will all participate in an official Meet & Greet. Check the programme on the site for the times when these encounters will be possible. The Meet & Greet will take place on the first floor, in a room next to the balcony. There is an entry and exit route so that everyone gets their turn organised. Following the Meet & Greet, we ask you not to overburden the Japanese guests further during the day.
Language English
We have more than 300 visitors from as many as 12 countries! Given the international nature of both the presentations, performances and visitors, English will be the language of communication throughout the day.
Food and drinks
There is a bar in the main hall. It offers a wide range of drinks, as well as light snacks. Please note that payment here can only be made by card. For the hearty appetite, restaurant Tuindorp Deli-cious will be present during the event to serve delicious sandwiches from a serving point in the entrance area. Here you can pay with cash or card.
Goody bag
Thanks in part to our sponsors, everyone will receive a goody bag! When you go home, it can be collected from the cloakroom when you present your wristband. Be surprised, there are some really beautiful items in there of which we as an organisation are extremely proud.
Means of payment
A word on the means of payment to be used. Not every exhibitor will be able to accept cards or payment via PayPal. At the cloakroom, payment must be made by cash anyway. We therefore advise you to bring enough cash in addition to your card and digital payment options. If necessary, there is an ATM cash machine located near the venue on Molenweg 34.
Blast Galaxy afterparty
If you haven’t had enough after a day full of MSX, we cordially invite you to our official afterparty! The afterparty will be hosted by Blast Galaxy at their homebase at Mt Lincolnweg 17 in Amsterdam. This is only a kilometre away from the Zonneplein and therefore easy to reach on foot. Blast Galaxy is a modern arcade club but with respect and feeling for the classic games. Upon presentation of your MSX GOTO40 wristband, admission is free!
Unable to attend?
Finally, the event has been sold out for months. A thread has been opened on the MSX Resource Center that maintains lists of people who missed out and would still like to attend. In the unlikely event that you are unable to attend and want to sell your ticket, we would appreciate it if you make use of these lists.
See you December 9!
